Valorie Burton: Let Go Of The Guilt
Thursday Jun 17, 2021
Thursday Jun 17, 2021
This entire month is dedicated to letting things go. Whether that means letting go of limiting beliefs, toxic relationships, shame, or even guilt, letting go is the key to truly living your life’s purpose and walking in the freedom that you’re called to.
There are so many things we need to let go of in life, but one that I’ve seen cripple most people is guilt. Guilt is rooted so deep within our hearts, it’s often hard to recognize we’re carrying it without consciously acknowledging where it originated. We can only recondition what we first recognize, and a book that does a beautiful job at helping readers remove guilt and move past shame is, “Let Go Of The Guilt” by Valorie Burton.
National bestselling author, international speaker and life strategist Valorie Burton is the founder and CEO of the Coaching and Positive Psychology (CaPP) Institute. Her life-changing message has an intriguing, research-based emphasis in the pioneering field of applied positive psychology – the study of what happens when things go right with us.
Her company provides coaching, coach training and resilience training and has served clients in all 50 states and 15 countries on six continents. Since 1999, she has written 13 books on personal development translated into nine languages, including the bestsellers Successful Women Think Differently, Successful Women Speak Differently, What’s Really Holding You Back?, and the most recent book Let Go of the Guilt.
Valorie teaches that resilience is a skill that can be learned – and anyone who wants to have fulfillment, high impact and success must learn it. Today she breaks down how we can stop beating ourselves up and take back our joy, by letting go of guilt.
Key discussion points from this episode include:
The Persistent Feeling Of Guilt - 7:53
Authentic Guilt vs. False Guilt - 10:50

How to Talk Money with Your Honey
Thursday May 27, 2021
Thursday May 27, 2021
Are you intimidated by the idea of talking about money?
Conversations around money in marriage can often be intimidating. Even the idea of combining two completely different lifestyles under one roof, carries its own fears and expectations. This is why communication is key to managing money as a couple. Without the collective ability to disclose personal debt accumulations, spending habits, savings goals, and financial fears with each other, you won’t be able to work together to build the financial freedom that you desire as a couple.
In this episode of the Redefining Wealth Podcast, my husband Gerald and I will be sharing some of the money lessons that we’ve learned over the last 13 years of marriage, as well as the steps we’ve taken to help us have intimidating money conversations. There have been so many ups and downs along our journey, but our underlying mission to communicate openly has allowed us to build the life of our dreams while chasing purpose and successfully saving for the future.
Key discussion points from this episode include:
How To Have A Collective Conversation About Money - 4:08
The Benefits of Weekly Meetings - 7:31

Thursday May 13, 2021
Have you ever achieved something and still felt disappointed? Are you addicted to achievement?
When we want more in life and feel like we’re constantly chasing or jumping from one thing to the next, it’s common to be met with disappointment from time to time. Achievement can become a drug that leads us to believe that we have to keep striving in order to be successful. It’s okay to grow and expand, however when we achieve something yet continuously find discontent or disappointment, then we have to take a step back and evaluate the life we want to live.
In his highly anticipated fifth book, LIVE FREE: Exceed Your Highest Expectations, Devon Franklin tackles how we can truly free ourselves from the cycle of disappointment and create a life that is free from expectations.
DeVon Franklin is an award-winning film producer, New York Times bestselling author, and motivational speaker. Known for his multiple bestselling books including THE TRUTH ABOUT MEN, THE SUCCESS COMMANDMENTS, THE WAIT (co-written with his wife, award-winning actress Meagan Good) and PRODUCED BY FAITH, DeVon is also the President and CEO of Franklin Entertainment, a dynamic multimedia entertainment company with a first-look film deal at Paramount Pictures, a second-look film deal at Netflix, and an overall deal at CBS TV Studios.
This book has resulted in so many revelations, downloads, and breakthroughs in my life and I’ve personally broken free from labels, titles, and everything stopping me from becoming who I know I’m purposed to be. We all have unset expectations that are making us miserable, and until we deal with them, there’s no way for us to ever live in the true peace and contentment designed for all of us to Live Free.

Reagan Washington: Mother’s Day Q&A
Thursday May 06, 2021
Thursday May 06, 2021
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and this special episode is dedicated to every Mother!
As a parent, it’s normal for us to talk “at” or “to” our kids, but not necessarily talk “with” them.
Our children are extremely observant and not only do they learn from the lessons we teach them, but they also watch our actions and pull qualities that help them shape their response to situations. Having conversations with our kids is so important and many of them have so many questions regarding how to navigate in this world.
As a mother, it was hard for me to accept that my daughter is an individual being with various thoughts, opinions, emotions and experiences. At the age of 13, she’s experiencing things I never have, and this week, I finally got a chance to sit down with the “Mini Money Maven” herself, to answer some of the questions that she has about life.
To make things fun, we decided that instead of interviewing her, Reagan has the opportunity to ask me anything. From stories about my middle school days, to questions about motherhood and raising a teenager, listen in as my daughter, Reagan Washington, hosts this special episode with a Mother’s Day Q&A.
Reagan’s questions from this episode include:
What Is Your Most Memorable Day In Middle School - 4:18
What Did I Do As A Child That Frustrates You Or That You Love? - 8:06
What Would You Name Me If I was a Boy? - 11:27
What Is Your Favorite TV Show As A Kid? - 16:38
What’s The Hardest Thing About Raising Children? - 18:48
What’s The Funniest Thing I’ve Ever Said Or Did As A Kid? - 22:28
Do I have More Of Your Good Qualities or Bad Qualities? - 23:40
Which Of My School Friends (Or Their Parents) Did You Dislike The Least? - 31:02
