Thursday Jun 10, 2021
As we welcome our first guest in the Let It Go series, we dispel common myths surrounding the concept of surrender. While we often associate surrendering with being passive, a doormat, and broke, we limit the possibilities of what we could attract and fall into a cycle of limiting beliefs. It’s easy to convince ourselves that surrendering is weak and results in not getting what we want, but what if we surrendered and actually received more?
Today’s guest is a transformational powerhouse who truly believes in the Magic of Surrender.
Kute Blackson is a beloved inspirational speaker and transformational teacher. He is author of the national bestselling book You.Are.The.One. and his newest book, The Magic of Surrender: Finding The Courage To Let Go. Kute is widely considered the next generation leader in the field of personal development and offers a fresh, bold look at spiritual awareness for a whole new generation.

There have been so many ups and downs along our journey, but our underlying mission to communicate openly has allowed us to build the life of our dreams while chasing purpose and successfully saving for the future.

Have you ever achieved something and still felt disappointed? Are you addicted to achievement?
When we want more in life and feel like we’re constantly chasing or jumping from one thing to the next, it’s common to be met with disappointment from time to time. Achievement can become a drug that leads us to believe that we have to keep striving in order to be successful. It’s okay to grow and expand, however when we achieve something yet continuously find discontent or disappointment, then we have to take a step back and evaluate the life we want to live.
In his highly anticipated fifth book, LIVE FREE: Exceed Your Highest Expectations, Devon Franklin tackles how we can truly free ourselves from the cycle of disappointment and create a life that is free from expectations.

This book has resulted in so many revelations, downloads, and breakthroughs in my life and I’ve personally broken free from labels, titles, and everything stopping me from becoming who I know I’m purposed to be. We all have unset expectations that are making us miserable, and until we deal with them, there’s no way for us to ever live in the true peace and contentment designed for all of us to Live Free.

Reagan Washington: Mother’s Day Q&A
Thursday May 06, 2021
Thursday May 06, 2021
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and this special episode is dedicated to every Mother!
As a parent, it’s normal for us to talk “at” or “to” our kids, but not necessarily talk “with” them.
Our children are extremely observant and not only do they learn from the lessons we teach them, but they also watch our actions and pull qualities that help them shape their response to situations. Having conversations with our kids is so important and many of them have so many questions regarding how to navigate in this world.
As a mother, it was hard for me to accept that my daughter is an individual being with various thoughts, opinions, emotions and experiences. At the age of 13, she’s experiencing things I never have, and this week, I finally got a chance to sit down with the “Mini Money Maven” herself, to answer some of the questions that she has about life.
To make things fun, we decided that instead of interviewing her, Reagan has the opportunity to ask me anything. From stories about my middle school days, to questions about motherhood and raising a teenager, listen in as my daughter, Reagan Washington, hosts this special episode with a Mother’s Day Q&A.
Reagan’s questions from this episode include:
What Is Your Most Memorable Day In Middle School - 4:18
What Did I Do As A Child That Frustrates You Or That You Love? - 8:06
What Would You Name Me If I was a Boy? - 11:27
What Is Your Favorite TV Show As A Kid? - 16:38
What’s The Hardest Thing About Raising Children? - 18:48
What’s The Funniest Thing I’ve Ever Said Or Did As A Kid? - 22:28
Do I have More Of Your Good Qualities or Bad Qualities? - 23:40
Which Of My School Friends (Or Their Parents) Did You Dislike The Least? - 31:02

Tanya Van Court: Close the Gap
Thursday Apr 22, 2021
Thursday Apr 22, 2021
To show our appreciation for Financial Awareness Month, we continue our “Thoughtful Money Series”. The purpose of this series is to become people who are more thoughtful around conversions that can increase financial literacy and education in our communities.
If we’re going to be better with money, we have to start closing the gap. The statistics regarding money for minorities and women are mind blowing and unless we effect change in our own homes, we will contribute to another poverty stricken generation. We all need to be more thoughtful about who and what we’re investing in. By collectively starting the conversation, we can close the gap in financial education as well as the gap in this wealth generation; and an amazing resource that can help us get there is Goalsetter.
Goalsetter is a family saving, financial literacy and smart spending app that makes it easy for the whole family to go cashless and learn how to be money-smart. Goalsetter is Nickelodeon meets Fintech – it combines the best of Fintech companies like Acorns and CashApp with financial education and gaming that appeals to the whole family. As such, Goalsetter is the first money app for the whole family, giving kids - from cradle to graduation - healthy financial habits that will last a lifetime.
Today we sit down with Tanya Van Court, the Founder and CEO of Goalsetter. Prior to Van Court's role at Goalsetter, Van Court served as senior vice president of partner marketing at Discovery Education, where she launched digital textbooks to schools across the country, as well as Nickelodeon, where she led their digital preschool and parenting businesses, including NickJr.com and Noggin.com. Prior to Nickelodeon, Van Court served as vice president of new media products for ESPN, where she led the launch of ESPN3, and she holds two degrees in engineering from Stanford University, and three degrees in parenting from her children Gabrielle, Hendrix, and Maxwell.
Goalsetter's mission is to get every household in America saving, creating the next generation of savers and investors. To download the Goalsetter App and start the financial conversation with your children, visit: www.goalsetter.co/

Melody Wright: Being Broke On Purpose
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
As we continue our Thoughtful Money Series, today’s episode focuses on the dreadful “d-word” we all know and despise: Debt.
Debt is that familiar friend that finds its way into our finances. Some of us blatantly hide our debt from family and friends, while others secretly stash shopping bags and bank statements to avoid money conversations entirely. Regardless, we all tend to not disclose the full truth surrounding our debt and fail to notice when lack of discipline turns on us in our finances.
Our guest this week is here to help us move past the disorganization and confusion that is our current financial state and help us put the PERSONAL back into personal finances. She understands that a financial plan isn't one size fits all, and believes that we all have the ability to live our OWN version of a Rich Life.
Melody Wright is a trained Ph.D. scientist that left the bench behind to become a Financial Empowerment Coach, Certified Financial Education Instructor, Speaker, and personal finance Author. While she's always had a passion for science, she has an even bigger passion for helping people create a better life through financial education and traded in her safety goggles and pipettes for debt repayment calculators and spreadsheets.
When faced with $212K of debt that didn't include their mortgage, she used the analytical skills learned from her time in science to develop a framework that helped her family pay off over $100,000 in debt in less than three years. Now she's living her version of a Rich Life and through bold conversations, coaching, and the creation of strategic money management systems, she has helped thousands of people stop being Aimlessly Broke™ and transform their mindset, behaviors, and practices related to money. Melody has been featured on the Rachael Ray Show, named a new money expert by Glamour Magazine, and has appeared on Grow -CNBC and several podcasts.
Key discussion points from this episode include:

The 7 Stages Of Grief For Finances - 8:22

Takeo Spikes: I’m Not Going Back
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
As we dive into our “Thoughtful Money” series, I wanted this series to contain unconventional conversations that challenge our money mindset and uncover the reasoning behind how we think of money.
While many athletes, entertainers and celebrities are known for having access to a lot of money, it’s interesting how so many have fallen victim to bankruptcy and financial struggles. I believe that who we are with a dollar, is who we are with a million dollars. Unless we have the discipline and education to manage our money wisely, it can be very easy to revert back to toxic spending habits that serve temporary pleasures instead of strategically building a lifestyle that attracts and maintains wealth. Today’s guest is an athlete who excelled both on the gridiron and in the game of money.
Former NFL player, Takeo Spikes was drafted in the first round (13th pick overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1998. After a successful 15 year career in football, he became a two-time All-Pro, a two-time Pro Bowl selection and is one of only seven linebackers in league history with more than 200 starts while playing for the Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers.
In preparation for life after football, Spikes began his broadcasting career with national appearances on television and radio and in December 2016, published his first book, Behind the Mask, a collection of intimate short stories about and photographs of some of the greatest linebackers to ever play in the NFL. His podcast of the same name, Behind the Mask, tells the REAL stories of some of your favorite players on and off the field, including Mike Singletary, Derrick Brooks, and the late Chuck Bednarik. In this episode, he shares his thoughtful money mindset and his amazing journey from the NFL to becoming an influential philanthropist who educates athletes and young men on how they can play the game and grow in wisdom and in wealth.
Key discussion points from this episode include:
Evolving in Purpose After The NFL - 8:36
Do What Comes Naturally To You - 13:24
Having An Intentional Money Mindset - 14:33
Split The Bill To Build Wealth Together- 18:36
