Redefining Wealth with Patrice Washington
It’s Simpler Than You Think

It’s Simpler Than You Think

March 19, 2020

What would happen if you gave yourself the chance to approach your finances from a more simplistic place?

This episode is sponsored by the Simplifi by Quicken App at simplifimoney.com, but all thoughts and opinions are of course, my own.

I don’t know about you, but in the past I’ve been one of those people who would overcomplicate things. Fortunately, in 2018, my theme for the year was simplicity. As I practiced that, I gave myself permission to approach life from a more simplistic mindset and it’s now become a part of how I live.

So any time I find a new way to make my life easier, especially when it comes to managing my finances, I want to share it with you with the hopes that it will make your life easier, too.

And today, I’m sharing one of the tools I use on a daily basis to streamline my money and finances and keep everything in one place.

Simplifi by Quicken is designed to help you tackle your money goals. Their app features things from monthly watchlists, so you know when you’re getting close to overspending, to savings and debt trackers that are designed to help you figure out how long it will take to save for X or pay off a credit card.

It’s Simpler Than You Think Takeaways

  • Compulsive spending is an unhealthy obsession with spending money to the point where it interferes with your daily life. – Patrice Washington
  • When you’re a compulsive spender, you find ways to keep needing to shop, even though you don’t need what you’re buying. – Patrice Washington
  • It’s not so much the item you’re buying; it’s the high you get from going to buy that item or from swiping your credit card. – Patrice Washington
  • If you’re a compulsive spender, use Simplifi to set monthly watchlists. – Patrice Washington
  • The word BUDGET carries a lot of baggage with it, but remember, a budget is literally only numbers on a sheet that are there to guide you. – Patrice Washington
  • Stop thinking about a budget in terms of what you can’t do and start thinking about it as a guide for what you can do. – Patrice Washington
  • When you have savings goals or you want to pay down debt, you have to be willing to sacrifice something for a season. – Patrice Washington
  • Whatever goal you’re working toward, make it specific, set a target date and use something like Simplifi to track your progress. – Patrice Washington

Have you tried Simplifi by Quicken app yet? What are some of your favorite features? What do you think they could they improve or add to the app? I’d love to know. And if you haven’t tried the app yet, what’s stopping you?

Start your free trial at www.simplifimoney.com or download the app at the App Store and Google Play Store and follow along on @simplifimoney in social media!

  • When you don’t share openly about your success and what’s possible, other people won’t see what’s possible for themselves either. – Patrice Washington

Dr. Shanté Holley: The Cost of Disobedience

Dr. Shanté Holley: The Cost of Disobedience

March 5, 2020

Tell me if this sounds familiar: You grind and hustle, exhausting yourself every week. And then you end up further away from the thing God has called you to do. For many people, this is their reality, and it’s one that I’ve lived for too long

That’s why, for me, this year is all about obedience. Thus far, I’ve realized that when I’m disobedient to God’s word, everything goes out of whack. In other words, everything becomes a struggle, and I end up exhausted and burnt out.

In today’s episode, Dr. Shanté Holley, host of the Believe Bigger podcast, zeros in on the idea of disobedience and explains how God is the king of brand affiliation. We also talk about how being obedient doesn’t mean being perfect and how it’s more about committing your heart to follow what God has said to do.

Join us as we go deeper into this discussion, while we look at some examples of disobedience and learn how to shift into obedience.

Today’s episode is brought to you by Command the Stage, a 2-day intimate training created for the next generation of transformational speakers who desire to confidently communicate the message they’ve been called to share with the masses.

How would you like to captivate your audience, attract your tribe, build authority and use speaking from the stage to grow your platform exponentially by becoming more magnetic, more memorable and more powerful? Get more details at patricewashington.com/stage

The Cost of Disobedience Takeaways

  • Obedience is not about perfection, it’s about being committed in your heart to doing what God has said to do. – Dr. Shanté Holley
  • We go clamoring to God when we’re in trouble, so when we’ve had a progression of successes it can be easy to drift away from His word. – Dr. Shanté Holley
  • God is the king of brand affiliation. He can’t be affiliated with you when you’re out there doing x, y and z while He’s told you to do a, b and c. – Dr. Shanté Holley
  • I’m not willing to sacrifice God’s best to be buddy-buddy with people anymore. – Patrice Washington
  • When you’re in alignment with what God has for you, you don’t have to hustle and grind, you attract and manifest instead. – Dr. Shanté Holley
  • God is not a bully. He’s content to let you go your own way. – Dr. Shanté Holley
  • One of the greatest expressions of self-love is to love God. – Dr. Shanté Holley

When you’re in alignment with what God has for you, you don’t have to hustle and grind. With that said, I challenge you to be honest with yourself and determine if you’re operating from a place of obedience or disobedience. Share what comes up for you in the comments below.

Obedience Over Everything

Obedience Over Everything

February 27, 2020

How many times has God asked or encouraged you to do something and you responded with, “I will, but once I finish this,” or “Are you sure, God? I don’t think I have the ability to do that?”

For me, I spent years making up excuses about why I wasn’t ready or why I was too busy to do the things God was calling me to do. So, when a business relationship of mine went sideways last year, and God had already called me to end it months before, I thought, “That’s it, I’m claiming obedience as my theme for 2020.”

And all of this got me thinking about what my life would look like if I just obeyed God the first time – on everything He’s called me to do. What would your life look like if you practiced obedience over convenience, perfection, logic or procrastination?

Today’s episode is brought to you by Command the Stage, a 2-day intimate training created for the next generation of transformational speakers who desire to confidently communicate the message they’ve been called to share with the masses.

How would you like to captivate your audience, attract your tribe, build authority and use speaking from the stage to grow your platform exponentially by becoming more magnetic, more memorable and more powerful? Get more details at patricewashington.com/stage.

Obedience Over Everything Takeaways

  • Obedience means having perfect confidence in God. – Patrice Washington
  • God does not speak to be heard, He speaks to be obeyed. – Priscilla Shirer
  • How often do you choose perfection, avoidance, excuses, expectations, logic or convenience over obedience? – Patrice Washington
  • What if you were obedient the first time you heard God? What would your life look like? – Patrice Washington
  • “All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you pay attention to the voice of the Lord your God.” – Deuteronomy 28.2
  • We overthink and overcomplicate things because we weren’t being obedient to begin with. – Patrice Washington

Now, I’d love to know – what would your life look like if you practiced obedience over convenience, perfection, logic or procrastination? Let me know in the comments.

And if you’re up for the challenge, let’s do an obedience challenge. Instead of waiting or making excuses or rationalizing, how can you move forward today with the vision God has given you? And how will you practice obedience to that vision every day?

Faith Joyner: For Love Only

February 18, 2020

Faith Joyner had experienced coach hurt like many emerging entrepreneurs out there who were hoping to learn the how-to strategies of a successful biz owner. Linda Murray Bullard: From Layoff to Legacy

February 18, 2020

Linda Murray Bullard experienced not one layoff, but two layoffs in the last year. The first time around her six-figure salary was snatched from under her and she had no additional income streams to rely on. But the second time which was just several months ago in 2019, she was a member of my business accelerator, Purpose to Platform, and this time she knew she would be all right.

Linda started her business, LSMB Solutions six year ago. She was well known in her hometown of Chattanooga, TN and was busy doing all the things she thought were necessary to be successful in business, but she didn’t have a blueprint. Since joining Purpose 2 Platform, Linda has repurposed her content in a way that serves her clients more powerfully, revamped her pricing to go from charging by the hour to charging for results and she’s refreshed what it means to be “The Business Plug.”

Brittany Sherell: The Fulfillment Factor

February 17, 2020

When Brittany joined my Business Accelerator, Purpose to Platform, she came into it with the idea that she was going to build a business. There’s nothing wrong with that idea, but as Brittany says, “Purpose to Platform is a program that takes you from having a one-track business mind into developing a full platform. It transformed how I thought about building a business.”

Since then, Brittany has achieved so much. She’s launched her own podcast – The Brittany Sherell Podcast – that’s about helping women learn to be okay with prioritizing themselves. She’s been featured as a thought leader in ten different publications, has been featured on podcasts, has taught webinars for international organizations, has completed a coaching certification to become a happiness coach and has published her first book, The Fulfillment Factor.

Join us as Brittany shares her experience with Purpose to Platform and her biggest takeaways and results since enrolling.

The Fulfillment Factor Takeaways

  • We’re conditioned to chase success and then oftentimes we find out that satisfaction does not live there. – Brittany Sherell
  • One of the most powerful things I’ve gained is understanding that there’s power in having a network. – Brittany Sherell
  • Sometimes other people’s freedom is attached to your fruit. – Brittany Sherell
  • You have to be willing to move beyond fear and move into the unknown and embrace it because it’s bigger than you. – Brittany Sherell
  • I’m committed to being my best self so that I’m always pouring from a place of abundance into other people’s lives. – Brittany Sherell
  • Execute and then evolve. – Brittany Sherell

Are you on the fence about Purpose to Platform? As Brittany says, “You don’t know how much time you have left on Earth, so you need to make the most of it. Do not second guess this.

Too many times, we consider things or look things over and come up with an excuse to talk ourselves out of something. You execute and then you evolve. You don’t sit there and come up with a million reasons why you should be doing something else.”

Love Looks Like Support

Love Looks Like Support

February 13, 2020

Have you ever noticed how many people use Valentine’s Day and the gifts they receive as an indicator for how much their spouse or significant other loves them?

They’ll post pictures of all their gifts on Facebook and Instagram and say things like, “Look at how much so-and-so loves me!” But is this love? I ask because I’m not so sure it is.

See, for many of those women, sure they’ll get the candy and flowers, but when it comes time for them to invest in themselves, their spouse or significant other will usually say, “We can’t afford it,” or worse “I don’t want you to.” And to me, that’s not love.

Love is about support, and on today’s episode, I’ve invited the husbands of three Purpose 2 Platform students to share how and why they support their wives, and how this support has made their marriages stronger.

Join us as we shift from conventional Valentine’s Day speak and zero-in on how love looks like when you’re supportive, not demonstrative.

This episode is brought to you by Purpose 2 Platform, a 20-week business accelerator and mentorship program that will get you clear on HOW to package your PURPOSE, communicate your PROMISE to your ideal audience, choose the best PLATFORM for your personality and lifestyle and create a PREMIUM offer.

Through this program, you’ll receive accountability and support in a dynamic community designed so you can finally make progress and be ready before you even need to pull that trigger on what’s no longer serving you.

When Love Looks Like Support Takeaways

  • We typically think coaching is for sports, but really anyone who wants to achieve something should seek some type of coaching. – John Norris
  • When you’ve a shared goal as a couple, you need to let each other explore different avenues of accomplishing that goal. – Dr. Jameson Mercier
  • For a lot of people, business ideas come out of desperation and desperation cannot sustain a business. – Dr. Jameson Mercier
  • When I was starting out, there were many times when I had to borrow Gerald’s faith, and for me, I’d much rather have that than flowers. – Patrice Washington
  • You don’t mitigate the risks by NOT following your dreams – it’s still risky whether you do or don’t do it. – Dr. Jameson Mercier
  • We’re on the same team. So if your spouse makes money, you make money, too. – Jamal Joyner

What does love look like to you? Is it roses and candy or is it the support of your spouse or significant other? I’ve met a lot of women who want to take their lives and careers to the next level, but don’t have the support they need from their spouse to get there.

If that’s where you are, follow Dr. Jameson Mercier’s advice. Be honest and speak to your spouse about what you need. And, of course, Happy Valentine’s Day.
